MycorTree Seedlings continued...

For its clients, PHC-REC locates an appropriate container nursery near the reclamation site.  Company experts supervise the production of MycorTrees that are custom-designed for the specific vegetation establishment program.  Native plant species and local seed sources are used.  PHC-REC then employs at least two species of ectomycorrhizal fungi on tree seedlings and four species of endomycorrhizal (VAM) fungi on other plant species.  Multi-fungal species assure diversity of mycorrhizal types that provide multiple benefits on the plant roots.  All MycorTrees undergo a verification process prior to outplanting to ensure the presence of the specific mycorrhizae.  Full-scale MycorTrees seedling programs, from the planting of seed through the planting of seedlings at the site, are routine for PHC-REC clients.  Outplanting tests using a range of MycorTrees species regularly demonstrate volume increases of more than 300% on severe sites.  Even in optimum forest and nursery soils, MycorTrees show improved growth of as much as 50%.  Plant Health Care is PHC-REC's sister company and provides all of the products that PHC-REC uses in their Reclamation.
