PHC-REC is the recognized leader in the use of biologically based solutions using mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria for the establishment of trees, shrubs, forbs, grasses and flowers on disturbed lands. Our team of professional has dedicated much of their careers over the past twenty years in the revegetation and reclamation of disturbed lands.  PHC-REC specializes in grass and shrub revegetation of severely disturbed sites using our exclusive VAM fungal spore pellets to accelerate the establishment of vegetation in the toughest of soils and climates.  PHC-REC also specializes in reforestation of poor and distressed soils using mycorrhizal fungi inoculated tree seedlings.

Details of Methods Used: We have inoculated seedlings (trees) in the field with our product called "Mycor Tree Root Dip" just prior to them being placed in the holes that have been dug for them.  We have had great success with this method. The inoculation in the nursery would be considered the "blue rosette" choice and the field inoculation would be considered the "blue ribbon" choice, however, we aren't always given the option or choice of inoculating in the nursery. When the inoculation method is used in the field using our product, the product is mixed with water and the seedling roots are dipped into the solution and the placed in the hole and covered with soil.  The dipping process can be completed prior to going out in the field, but the roots must be kept moist and protected from air and the elements.  Usually an absorbent type of material or wet burlap is used to wrap them to protect them as well as keeping the roots moist.

This photo is a sampling of the trees that were pulled for observation.  All of the trees were inoculated with Mycorrhizal fungi and are two (2) years old (meaning, they have been in the ground for two (2) years).  They were all planted as seedlings and have all been growing in waste rock and overburden, with no irrigation or fertilization. The seedlings were inoculated in the nursery when they were first planted in their plugs or pots and typically they are grown in the nursery for at least six (6) months to one (1) year before they are transported to the field for final planting. This is an Austrian Pine that was inoculated with Mycorrhizal fungi and is two (2) years old.  It has been growing in waste rock and overburden  No irrigation or fertilization was applied.  Note:  The long length of roots that have been growing into the waste rock.
